Malaysia: The Choice for the 14th International Conference

The Board of Directors of IRCSA unanimously chose Malaysia as the site of the 14th International Conference in 2009 from among three other bidders.
NAHRIM or the National Hydraulic Institute of Malaysia presented the bid through Hj Ahmad Jamalluddin Shaaban. IRCSA’s policy is to visit all IRCSA regions in order for scientists and practitioners to touch base with researchable issues in the area of rainwater harvesting and to bring advances in technology, applications and policies in other countries through IRCSA members’ interaction.
Through Malaysia, IRCSA will be able to reach out to the South East Asia Region where early experiments on rainwater catchments systems have been conducted (Thailand conference in 1983) and where IRCSA was conceived as an Association (Manila conference in 1994). It would be interesting to see what had happened to the early works on rainwater catchment systems and what lessons were learned.
